Hype Or Hope? - Sermon 16th March, 2025

La Jolla Presbyterian Church

Are we caught up in the spectacle or anchored in something deeper? Join us this Sunday as Pastor Paul dives into this question with his sermon, "Hype or Hope," focusing on Mark 11:1-11. This passage captures Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event marked by public adulation and festivity, yet layered with profound spiritual significance. As the crowds spread their cloaks and wave palm branches, their shouts of "Hosanna" reflect high expectations of a political savior. However, Jesus enters not as a warrior on a horse but in humility, riding on a donkey. This juxtaposition raises important questions about our own perceptions of Jesus: Are we looking for a hero to solve immediate problems, or are we placing our hope in His promise of deeper, lasting salvation?
